James, besides being involved in modern dance projects, enjoys singing and playing many types of instruments including the cello, drumset, percussion, folk oboes, sax, and piano.
Prior to moving to Boulder, Colorado in 1991, James and his wife lived in Hollywood, California, where he worked in a variety of bands, studios, and other areas of the entertainment industry. He now plays in the Boulder/Denver area in the Buzz Band, and in the Balkan/Middle-Eastern musical group Sherefe. He and Timothy Quigley have just finished a CD of didgeridoo and cello duets.
